NOTICE
To all Customers of Sylvite Agri-Services
This letter is to inform you of the new Consolidated Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste Program (CMHSW) Fee that is being imposed on all fertilizer products that are sold in packaging 30 Kg/L or under. This fee is being introduced by the Ontario Government through Stewardship Ontario. The purpose of this fee is to cover the cost of cities and municipalities to dispose of packaging materials and hazardous goods in landfills and recycling centers.
How much is the fee?
The fee is currently set at $0.023 / Kg (2.3 ¢ per K.G.)
Who does this fee apply to?
This fee applies to all non-agricultural customers.
All farm customers MUST provide a valid Farm Business Registration number to avoid paying this fee.
If a number is not presented the fee will be charged whether the product is intended for farm use or not
What does this mean to me?
This means that as of July 1st all customers without a valid Farm Business Registration number and / or unable to provide one at time of sale will be charged the CMHSW fee of $0.023/Kg ($23/MT).
This Ontario Government fee through Stewardship Ontario will show up as a separate line item of your invoice and will be subject to the new HST.
